Yankees drop concerning Giancarlo Stanton update as MRI results awaited

The New York Yankees announced they will place Giancarlo Stanton on the injured list due to a left calf strain, manager Aaron Boone told reporters after Monday's 4-2 win.

This comes after the slugger left Friday's game with right calf tightness. Initially, the tightness was not thought to require a stint on the injured list, but two days later, the Yankees dropped the hammer.

An MRI was scheduled on Monday as Stanton missed his third straight game against the Texas Rangers. In his place, Jasson Dominguez filled the role of designated hitter.
