Yankees cut ties with 4 players as spring training gets underway

The New York Yankees are starting to get their house in order.

Spring Training is underway, and the Yanks have already cut four players loose as they figure out the path forward with their roster.

The four players released on Monday were minor leaguers, according to Yankees Prospect Watch:

• Joe Delossantos
• Hansel Rosario
• Cade Austin
• Justin Lange

Delossantos is an outfielder who was a 10th-round pick in 2024. He played just 31 games across two seasons in Rookie-ball with just a .294 slugging percentage.

Rosario is a righty pitcher who signed in 2021 but never got above Rookie-ball and had a 6.92 ERA in his time in the minors.

Austin went in the 19th round in 2023 but had a 3.36 ERA over the past two seasons in the minor leagues, so his release is a bit more unusual.

Lange came over in the 2022 Luke Voit trade to the Padres. The righty pitcher missed 2024 with injury and only threw 10 innings in 2025 as he struggled to come back.

These aren't the last guys who will be let go by the Yanks this spring, and they're not particularly well known.

But they'll now look for paths toward continuing their baseball careers. At least Austin and Lange should likely get another chance or two.
