Yankees blockbuster trade pitch brings 25-HR All-Star to New York

It's time for the New York Yankees to act like the New York Yankees.

July is only a day away, and that means the trade deadline is finally nearing its crescendo. In a few weeks, the buyers and sellers will become clear, and the Yankees can finally make their move to upgrade the lineup.

There are lots of great pieces already functioning well in the Yankees' lineup. But their current inefficiency is playing Jazz Chisholm Jr. at third base, when he's demonstrated that he's far better served at second base instead.

If New York could land a slugging third baseman, their lineup might become the best in the game. And one Yankees insider thinks that's exactly what the team needs to do ahead of the Jul. 31 deadline.

On Monday, Pete Caldera of NorthJersey.com named Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez as the "ideal" deadline acquisition to boost the Yankees' offense.

There’s incentive to add a right-handed hitting outfielder and/or corner infielder via trade, enabling at least a platoon with (Jasson) Dominguez and/or moving Chisholm Jr. back to second base," Caldera wrote.

"An ideal third base candidate would be Arizona's slugging Eugenio Suárez, in his free agent walk year."

Suárez, 33, owns 25 home runs and an OPS of .889 through 81 games this season. His D-backs just got swept by the Miami Marlins, putting them back under .500 (41-42) and five games out of playoff position.

While that doesn't guarantee that Suárez will be available, indications are that they'll at least listen if the Yankees want to make the power move of all power moves and give themselves one more All-Star in the middle of the order.
