Aaron Judge understands that his performance in the World Baseball Classic for Team USA wasn't what it needed to be. If there's one player who understands what it takes to win at the highest level, as well as the criticism that comes with it, it's the New York Yankee slugger.
After a disappointing showing with Team USA, Judge addressed the boos and criticism in the way he's done his entire career. He understands he has a job to do and didn't do it this time around.
“I see the bigger picture. I’ve got a job to do,” Judge told the New York Post’s Jon Heyman. “I’ve got things to do, so I’m not going to be bothered by criticisms. If I was, I’m never going to accomplish what I want to do.”
Judge has been under a microscope in New York since the moment he became the face of the Yankees. Unfortunately, whether right or wrong, there are some negative things that come with that.
Instead of some saying that Judge is the greatest right-handed hitter of all time and he happened to not play well for a couple of games in the World Baseball Classic, people take it the other way and have to make it something that it isn't.
But Judge isn’t engaging with it. Rightfully so, too, as he understands what's at stake this season for the Yankees and isn't worried about what others have to say.
