The New York Yankees could certainly use more production out of the third base position.
Could Aaron Judge shock baseball and switch to that spot?
Well, it's probably not impossible. But don't think that it's particularly likely, either.
Judge raised the fascination by taking pregame grounders at third base in Fenway Park on Tuesday before the Yankees begin their series against the Boston Red Sox.

The most likely explanation for this is that Judge simply felt like activating his glove and arm in a bit of a different way. He's a top-notch right fielder with a cannon for a right arm, and maybe he just wanted some reps seeing the ball into his glove and then out of his hand on some simple throws.
Judge is far from the first outfielder to come onto the dirt to get some action during warmups. It doesn't always mean a position change is in the works.
The 6-foot-7 superstar has never played a single inning in the infield in the major leagues. He's a quality athlete, yes, but at his size and age it's not straightforward to think he could adjust to the hot corner.
Maybe this is one of those last-resort possibilities that it doesn't hurt for the Yankees to have in their back pocket while hoping they never have to use it.
Or maybe it was just Judge having a good time.
Or maybe, the smallest possibility of the bunch, they actually want to end up playing Judge meaningful innings at third base this season.
Someone will surely ask about this routine soon enough. It's probably nothing, but that doesn't mean it's not interesting.
