Yabusele hints at Mike Brown being the reason behind him not getting opportunities

1 hour ago 2

The New York Knicks signed Guerschon Yabusele in the 2025 offseason early on. They did not have a head coach at the time because Tom Thibodeau stepped away from the Knicks. After signing Yabusele, they moved forward with getting Mike Brown.

It seems Yabusele was not a good fit for Brown's system, as he has played so little this season. Considering he was superb with the Philadelphia 76ers in the previous campaign, this was a disappointing development.

Yabusele believes Brown is not using him right

Yabusele is not the typical big man because he is quite unorthodox. He is listed at 6'7", which is quite small for someone who plays the center position. Of course, Yabusele relies more on his width and power to make an impact.

He is one of the hardest workers on the floor when he is playing, which made him so impactful in Philly. Unfortunately for Yabusele, he has not received that level of opportunity with the Knicks after signing with them.

Brown has favored utilizing the duo of Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson as his primary rotation. Sometimes, Ariel Hukporti even gets more minutes than him, which summarizes what Brown thinks about Yabusele.

On an Instagram post by KnicksFanTV, there was a comment that detailed Brown's system being detrimental to a player like Yabusele.

"Somebody with common sense. All good, thank you, brother, I will be okay," Yabusele said in response to a comment critical of Brown's usage of him.

At the end of the day, it seems that Brown was never a big fan of Yabusele. He was signed to the Knicks roster without him being the coach yet, so this did not fit the vision that Brown set out for his team.

It is a shame because Yabusele is a talented player, but it is not the right fit with the system that has turned out to be successful.
