The Kansas City Chiefs have an important matchup coming off their bye week - a visit to the Denver Broncos this Sunday. However, a new development could leave them without one of their top offensive weapons.
On Thursday, wide receiver Xavier Worthy was announced to have entered the injury report with an ankle injury, limiting his participation in that day's practice:

Also limited in practice was edge rusher George Karlaftis (thumb). Running back Isiah Pacheco (knee) did not participate.

The Broncos, meanwhile, did not have these players during their own practice:
- RB JK Dobbins (foot)
- TE Nate Adkins (knee)
- LB Jonah Elliss (hamstring)
- LB Alex Singleton (illness)
- CB Pat Surtain II (pectoral)
Wide receiver Trent Sherfield managed to recover from a toe injury and was a full participant after missing Wednesday, while interior defender John Franklin-Myers was a limited participant while recovering from a back injury.
Chiefs face daunting task of overcoming Broncos' sack-heavy defense
The most important thing that the Chiefs must overcome at Mile High is not the Broncos' offense. Rather, it is the defense.
The current AFC West leaders boast the most sacks in the league at 46, and three players account for half of them -- Nik Bonitto, Jonathon Cooper, and Zach Allen. Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy is aware of the threat, something that he addressed on Thursday:
“Stay out of those. They know that, but we know it too, and we got to figure out ways to do it. They’re really good across the board.”As for offensive strategy, he said:
“We just have to make sure schematically that we understand we like where we’re at as an offensive line. We like where we’re at with our protections and then in the run game, that’s critical too. Let’s just make sure we understand.”On the other side of the matchup, Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph said about his planned strategems against Andy Reid and the offense:
“Going against Patrick (Mahomes), obviously, how you rush him is important, how you cover is important, but the second part is just keep chasing him and keep plastering the back end because those plays they’ve made over the years, him and [TE Travis] Kelce especially, have been hard for defenses."Kickoff for the game is at 3:25 pm CT on CBS.
