The son of an AEW legend and WWE Hall of Famer is set to launch his independent wrestling career. The star in question is Steve Borden, whose father, Sting, finished up his in-ring career in a much-acclaimed retirement match last year.
During The Icon's entrance for his final bout against The Young Bucks at Revolution 2024, he was accompanied by his sons, Garrett Lee and Steven Borden Jr., the latter respectively donning Sting's ring-gear and face-paint from his "Surfer Sting" and "nWo Wolfpac" days. After retiring as a reigning AEW tag team champion, the former WCW and WWE veteran has made special appearances on AEW programming to help out his tag partner Darby Allin, doing so most recently at WrestleDream 2025.
While The Vigilante's pro-wrestling journey came to a spectacular end last year, it was reported a couple of months later that Steven Jr. had started training to compete inside the squared circle with none other than Darby himself. The former Kilgore College student and athlete made his in-ring debut on October 3, 2025 at a an art exhibition dubbed 52W Hardway, which featured a tag team match pitting him and JD Drake of the WorkHorsemen against Allin and Killer Kross. The up-and-comer is now officially poised to step into the independent circuit.
The latest report from Fightful Select has claimed that Steven Borden Jr. is set to wrestle at DEFY AEON next Friday, November 21, in Seattle's Washington Hall, where he will be taking on Kiran Grey.

Sting helped Darby Allin defeat a former WWE Champion at AEW WrestleDream
With the numbers advantage stacked in his favor, Jon Moxley appeared to have Darby Allin at his mercy towards the closing stretch of their "I Quit" match at WrestleDream 2025. However, the daredevil was rescued by the timely intervention of his legendary tag partner, Sting. The Icon incapacitated both Claudio Castagnoli and Pac, and shattered a glass aquarium inside which Mox had been dunking Darby's head. Before carrying away an irate Marina Shafir to the back, Sting also left his baseball bat with Allin, who used it to attack Moxley before locking the former WWE and AEW World Champion into the Scorpion Deathlock, forcing him to submit.
