John Cena Sr. wants his son to put over Dominik Mysterio on his way out

John Cena Sr. has pitched the idea of his son putting Dominik Mysterio over on his way out. Cena Sr. made this statement before his son won the Intercontinental Championship.

Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling, he stated that his son's final match should be against Dirty Dom, who should win the Intercontinental Championship back from the Franchise Player in his last-ever match. He said:

"I don't think we should stop the storyline there. At the very last match in Washington, DC, it should be Mysterio against Cena to get his belt back. That would close that chapter. The one thing I've seen with the WWE writing this tour is [that] there's been a lot of storylines with no finishes."

Mysterio won the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 41 by defeating Bron Breakker in a Fatal Four-Way Match, including Finn Balor and Penta. Mysterio pinned Balor to win the title and successfully defended it against top names, including AJ Styles, Penta, and Rusev.

Despite losing the title to Cena, Mysterio still has gold around his waist, courtesy of the AAA Mega Championship. He won the title by defeating El Hijo del Vikingo at Worlds Collide: Las Vegas.

Cena's final opponent will be determined, courtesy of the Last Time Is Now Tournament. It remains to be seen if Mysterio enters the tournament, now that he no longer holds the Intercontinental Title.
