Wu-Tang Clan rapper Method Man will not be arrested for allegedly assaulting a family friend at a Staten Island gym, law enforcement sources said Friday.
An investigation revealed that Method Man, whose real name is Clifford Smith, was actually hit first during the fight that broke out with Patrick Sokoya, 28, at a Crunch Fitness gym, according to the sources.
The Hempstead, Long Island-born rapper, 53, did not file a cross-complaint against Sokoya and likely will not, the sources said.
Smith was accused of punching Sokoya seven times in the face during the melee, according to the sources.
The alleged altercation was the result of a relationship Sokoya had with the “Tical” rapper’s daughter more than a decade ago.
Sokoya had reported feeling dizzy but he refused medical attention at the scene, the sources said.
A rep for Smith told The Post via email, “Mr. Smith categorically denies the allegations as reported and has not been the subject of an arrest by any law enforcement agency.”
In addition to his decade-spanning run with the Wu-Tang Clan, Smith is a prolific actor, who has more than 130 credits on IMDb.
He’s also sold more than 4 million solo albums.
