Wrestling legend lashes out at WWE for "stupid " decision; wants former personality reinstated

A wrestling legend has lashed out at WWE recently. He wants a former personality reinstated.

Hardcore Holly is the latest to lash out at WWE. The company's product has come a long way from when Vince Russo was the head writer. Back then, the brand split actually meant something. Superstars who were drafted to RAW or SmackDown would only show up on their respective shows. Additionally, each show had its own PLE. This allowed storylines to play out more naturally. In the modern era, the WWE Draft has become nothing more than a gimmick used to make the show feel more authentic without adding any substance. Superstars on RAW and SmackDown show up on both shows irrespective of where they belong. Therefore, the brand split has received its fair share of criticism in recent years.

Hardcore Holly recently took to social media to lash out at World Wrestling Entertainment for the current brand split idea, calling it "stupid." He also called for Vince Russo to be hired as head writer if the company wants to improve the product.

"The brand split was stupid back in 2002 but I understood it from a business standpoint. In 2025, it's just stupid, ignorant, lazy, and senseless. End the brand split, bring in Vince Russo as head writer and maybe two assistants, no shackles. Must-see TV would return."

Vince Russo believes Stephanie McMahon's arrival changed WWE creative for the worse

Stephanie McMahon has performed for WWE in various roles over the years. She worked as an onscreen talent, a producer backstage, and even served as the company's co-CEO. As a result, she also got to work with Vince Russo, who was the head writer during the Attitude Era.

Speaking on Writing with Russo, the former writer claimed that scripted promos became the norm after Stephanie McMahon joined the team.

"I really think that came from when Stephanie was put in charge, and Stephanie was not creative. I think that's really where it came from. So the writers were writing this, and she can't interject."

It remains to be seen if Triple H will listen to criticism and do away with the brand split.
