New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is under heavy criticism after fans learned that he was the one behind the proposal to stop the NFLPA report cards. The NFL filed a grievance against the NFL Players Association to ask the union to stop the annual team report cards.

The reasoning behind this is that it violates the collective bargaining agreement by airing public criticism of teams, ESPN reported on Thursday. Seth Wickersham and Don Van Natta Jr. report that Johnson, owner of the $8.1 billion franchise (per Forbes), was behind the call to stop the NFLPA report cards.

Fans had a lot to say about this, with many calling out the owners for not taking accountability and trying to sweep their players' disagreement under the rug.

The criticism didn't stop there, as fans explained why owners needed to pay attention to the NFLPA report cards.

"I think those report cards are a great tool for accountability. When players feel heard about things like the training rooms or travel, it only helps the overall product on the field, which is what we all want to see," one fan said. "Well, bless their hearts, those big-shot owners can't handle a little honesty from the fellas who actually bleed for 'em on that field. Let the players grade away, nobody's perfect, but hiding the truth? That's just plain tacky," another fan said. "Guy who runs arguably the worst franchise in American sports doesn’t want the public to know it’s the worst run team in American sports," another fan said.

How did Jets players grade Woody Johnson's team in the 2025 NFLPA report cards?

The New York Jets didn't have the best grades in the NFLPA 2025 report cards. They got a C- in treatment of families and food/dining area, a B+ in nutritionist/dietician, a D+ in locker room, a C in training room, a C in training staff, a C+ in weight room, a B in strength coaches, a C+ in team travels, a B in head coach and an F in ownership.

More recently, Johnson starred in a back-and-forth with Justin Fields when he criticized his quarterback amid a 0-7 start to the season. This could affect the team's grades in the 2026 report card.
