World Snooker Championship 2025: Schedule, order of play, results and latest scores as O'Sullivan beats Carter

6 hours ago 1

Ronnie O'Sullivan is back in action at the Crucible and claimed a dominant first-round win over old rival Ali Carter.

O'Sullivan has not played since January and spoke candidly about his mental health struggles, saying that returning to Sheffield for his 33rd consecutive World Championship appearance was "an achievement in itself".

He held a 5-4 lead over Carter after the opening session of their match and reeled off five unanswered frames when the pair resumed on Wednesday, April 23.

Kyren Wilson's title defence crashed to earth at the first hurdle as Scottish Open champion Lei Peifan claimed a dramatic 10-9 win.

Last year's beaten finalist Jak Jones was brutally dispatched 10-4 by Zhao Xintong

Tournament favourite Judd Trump started his World Championship campaign against Zhou Yuelong on Tuesday, April 22, and opened up a 6-3 lead.

The Sporting News will provide updated scores throughout the tournament.
