The battle for baseball's ultimate prize is set to begin on Friday night, as the Toronto Blue Jays host the Los Angeles Dodgers for Game 1 of the 2025 World Series. This Fall Classic pits a high-powered Dodgers team — the defending champions who swept through the National League Championship Series — against a resilient Blue Jays squad that fought through a seven-game American League Championship Series to reach the World Series for the first time in 32 years.
The matchup features an intriguing contrast in narratives. For the Dodgers, the goal is to cement their dynasty, aiming to become the first team since the 1998–2000 New York Yankees to win back-to-back titles, leaning on a superstar-laden roster that includes two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani; Ohtani had three home runs and struck out 10 in Game 4 against the Brewers.
The Blue Jays, meanwhile, are chasing history of their own, making their first World Series appearance since their back-to-back championships in 1992 and 1993. This marks the first time these two particular franchises have met with the Commissioner's Trophy on the line.

The Virginia-based choir, founded by Bishop Ezekiel Williams and gaining prominence through their Netflix docuseries, will follow up Pharrell Williams, who will perform before the anthems.
To pay special homage to the international setting of the World Series, the choir’s rendition of the Canadian National Anthem will be further enhanced by an ensemble comprised of a local Toronto orchestra and additional Canadian performers.
Game 2: Alessia Cara and Bebe Rexha
Cara is a highly acclaimed Canadian singer and songwriter. Born in Mississauga, Ontario, her breakout moment came with her 2015 debut single, "Here,."
Cara’s accolades include being the first Canadian artist to win the prestigious Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2018. Her career is also marked by successful collaborations, including the Grammy-nominated hit "Stay" with Zedd, and "1-800-273-8255" with Logic, a powerful song that brought mental health awareness to the pop charts. She will perform "O Canada" at Game 2, representing her home country and the Toronto Blue Jays during their World Series run.
Rexha will perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" ahead of Game 2, bringing her strong vocals and broad mainstream appeal to the World Series stage. Her career initially gained traction as a songwriter, where she notably co-wrote the Grammy Award-winning hit "The Monster" for Eminem and Rihanna. This success quickly led to her own spotlight, signing as a solo artist in 2013.
Rexha has scored major hits such as "Me, Myself & I" with G-Eazy, "In the Name of Love" with Martin Garrix, and the massively popular country crossover "Meant to Be" with Florida Georgia Line, which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100.
