Woody Johnson has no Aaron Rodgers regret after Jets disaster

As Aaron Rodgers looks to continue his renaissance season against the franchise synonymous with his Hall of Fame resume, his other former team isn’t dreaming about what could’ve been.

Cut by the Jets in February, Rodgers has the Steelers (4-2) leading the AFC North while the Jets (0-7) are the NFL’s only winless team.

Do the Jets regret moving on from Rodgers?

“I never look back,” owner Woody Johnson said Tuesday at the fall NFL owners meetings in midtown.

“You have to look forward in football. Even when you cut players, they could be Hall of Famers. You never know. Aaron is playing great now. He’s in a situation that’s working for him.”

Of course, Rodgers was a future Hall of Famer long before he joined the Jets in 2023.

He won a Super Bowl and four MVPs with the Packers, who will visit the Steelers on Sunday in Rodgers’ first-ever game against Green Bay.

Rodgers has thrown for 1,270 yards, 14 touchdowns and five interceptions during his first six starts for the Steelers.

He started the season by beating the Jets, 32-30, in his return to MetLife Stadium.

Johnson and Rodgers had a rocky relationship at the end of his Jets’ tenure, especially after Rodgers made a joke that “being released by a teenager would also be a first.”

It was a veiled reference to reports of Johnson’s teenage son, Brick, influencing how his father runs the organization.  

Rodgers went 6-12 with the Jets, though his first much-hyped season was marred by a season-ending torn Achilles only a few snaps into Week 1.
