WNBA 3-point contest and skills contest prize money: Why winners earn more than All-Star participants

The WNBA has hit its midseason mark, which means All-Star Weekend is just about here.

While many eyes are typically on the All-Star game, the winner of the 3-point contest actually earns more money than the All-Star game's participants. Regardless of who earns what, one universal guarantee is that players are earning more thanks to their recent collective bargaining agreement.

With higher earnings on the table, the league is attempting to attract more high-caliber players to participate in events other than just the All-Star Game.  

Here's how much the competition winners will bring home this All-Star weekend.

WNBA 3-point contest and skills contest prize money

According to the WNBA's new collective bargaining agreement, more financial resources are now available for players who win awards during the All-Star weekend competitions. Beginning in 2027, the following bonus amounts will increase depending on the growth rate of the league's salary cap:

Winners

• 3-point contest: $20,000
• Skills competition: $15,000

Participants

• 3-point contest: $10,000
• Skills competition: $7,500

WNBA All-Star Game prize money

This year, players who participate in the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game will earn $15,000 thanks to the league's new landmark CBA. Additionally, the player who earned the All-Star Game Most Valuable Player award will earn $20,000.

Before the collective bargaining agreement, participants earned $2,575 while the MVP took home $5,150.
