Wizards receiving inquiries on their No. 1 draft pick from multiple teams

The Wizards have been in rebuild mode over the past few seasons, and it paid off recently, as they won the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery and will have the rights to the #1 overall pick in the upcoming draft.

They made notable moves ahead of the trade deadline earlier this season to aquire Trae Young and Anthony Davis, and now have the opportunity to add a young player to their core.

There's no guarantee that they will keep the pick, though, as teams have begun reaching out to Washington.

Will the Wizards keep the No. 1 pick in the 2026 draft?

This year's draft class has some of the best depth that we've seen from a draft class in recent years.

Any player in the top-10 can have the chance of being a franchise player, but teams may want to bypass waiting for their turn, which is why a couple of teams have reached out to Washington about their pick.

NBA insider Brett Siegel reported, "The overwhelming belief around the league is that the Wizards won’t trade the No. 1 pick, although they are open to hearing offers that come their way."

Siegel added that the Jazz and Hawks are two teams that have/will talk with the Wizards about the pick.

The Jazz own the rights to the second overall pick right now, and could realistically move up to select first if they could find common ground on a deal with Washington.

The Hawks have two first-round picks, as they currently own the 8th and 23rd overall picks.

The NBA Draft will begin in a little over a month, starting on June 23.
