In Week 6, the Washington Commanders will play their third straight game without wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
McLaurin suffered a quadriceps injury in the Week 3 win over the Las Vegas Raiders and was once again ruled out before Monday night's kickoff.
McLaurin has not taken part in a single practice since his injury and his status remains up in the air for Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys.
However, there was a sign of progress for McLaurin in the week leading up to the Week 6 contest against the Chicago Bears and a report suggests he could be back next week.
Here's what we know.
Will Terry McLaurin be back in Week 7?
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on Sunday that Washington "could get WR Terry McLaurin back next week."
According to ESPN's John Keim, McLaurin was with the team at practice during the week and did rehab work on a side field, which is more than McLaurin had done in the weeks prior.
That gives us more hope that McLaurin will be able to get right for Week 7, but of course that has not been confirmed.
On Oct. 6, head coach Dan Quinn said he was "optimistic" McLaurin would make his return in Week 6. While that didn't happen, it is yet another sign that McLaurin is getting close and could return next week.
With McLaurin out, Deebo Samuel has emerged as a reliable target in Washington's offense and he will once again operate as the team's top wideout in Week 6.
Quinn will address the media on Tuesday, so we should get more information on McLaurin then. After that, the Commanders will drop their first injury report for next week's game on Wednesday.
