Will Tank Dell play in 2025? Latest injury update on Houston Texans wide receiver

The Houston Texans' wide receiver corps. is missing a big piece this season thanks to the injury wideout Tank Dell suffered last season.

Dell sustained a catastrophic knee injury in Week 16 of the 2024 season that included a dislocated knee cap, a torn ACL, MCL and LCL and damage to his meniscus.

Not only did that end Dell's 2025 campaign early, it also put his ability to play at all in 2025 in serious doubt, both thanks to how late in the season he suffered the injury and the severity of it.

It was just a devastating blow for Dell, who was showing serious star potential in his first two years in the NFL. The injury was also his second significant on, as Houston's wideout suffered a fractured fibula in 2023.

Here's what we know about Dell's chances of playing this season.

Will Tank Dell play in 2025?

Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer to this question, but we would lean more toward no if we had to guess.

That said, we did get a positive update on Dell during the Texans' Week 3 broadcast on CBS, when analyst Ross Tucker revealed he saw Dell running sprints.

“We did see Tank Dell was out running sprints which is encouraging,” Tucker said, per Chron’s Michael Shapiro. “Man, they are a different offense when that young man is out there. The connection that young man has with C.J. Stroud and has going back to their rookie year is special.”

We saw Dell on the sideline for a Texans game earlier this month and he looked to be moving just fine and didn't have any kind of support on.

It's very clear that Dell's rehab is going well, but whether or not he plays this season remains to be seen.
