The Pittsburgh Steelers may have found a steal on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft. The team used the No.185 overall pick in Round 6 on Ohio State quarterback Will Howard, who posted a phenomenal senior season for the Buckeyes in 2024 and has a ton of promise at the next level.
Howard tossed 35 touchdowns to ten interceptions last year and was a pivotal piece to Ohio State's National Championship-winning squad. Despite flourishing in Ryan Day's offense, Howard still fell to the end of the draft and was the eighth quarterback selected.
Though Howard slid to the sixth round and will likely not play much in his rookie campaign, as Pittsburgh is still hunting for a veteran starting quarterback, the 23-year-old looked ecstatic to try on a Steelers helmet in a picture taken by Steelers photographer Alysa Rubin.

It's clear that Howard is elated to be a Steeler. The Kansas State transfer was caught on video during the draft hoping that Pittsburgh would take him, and his wish was granted by general manager Omar Khan and head coach Mike Tomlin.
Howard's relentless work ethic has also already been on display, as he asked Steelers quarterbacks coach Tom Arth for the play installs just a day after he was drafted. Howard's mother, Maureen, revealed this information to Devin Jackson of the Inquirer.
"[Arth] wrote [Will] back and said, ‘Hey, we were going to give you the weekend off, but this is why we drafted you, because it’s the kind of worker you are," Howard's mom told Jackson.
We'll see if Howard can develop into an impact player for Pittsburgh in the future, but things are off to a good start.
