The New York Giants are beginning a new era under John Harbaugh, and one of the key pieces of that is quarterback Jaxson Dart.
But another is running back Cam Skattebo.
The battering ram of a back had a superb first eight weeks as he showed what a weapon he can be, but a brutal leg injury ended his season in a devastating way.
Some thought he would take his time with his comeback, but others want him to be ready to go at the start of the regular season. But will he?
"Obviously, there's ups and downs in the injury process and coming back and rehabbing, but the mental battle has been the hardest part: making sure that I trust it fully," Skattebo said, via The Associated Press. "I'm a little ways out. Not too far, but I'll be ready to go. Week 1, I'll be ready to go."

Skattebo news great for Giants
The key to kickstarting a new era is belief in the program, and you get that from winning football games, and the Giants have a chance to do that straight out of the gate against the Dallas Cowboys.
Yes, Malik Nabers' chances of playing Week 1 are uncertain, but to have Skattebo to be the leader of the run game, something that the Cowboys have notoriously struggled with, is a great thing for New York.
Yes, there's a lot of water to go under the bridge, but having Skattebo to pair with Dart from Week 1 is ideal for Harbaugh and the offense.
Now, will it translate to a Week 1 win? Who knows, but it certainly boosts their chances.
