The Las Vegas Raiders were forced to navigate the Week 1 contest against the Miami Dolphins without star tight end Brock Bowers.
In the week leading up to the game, Bowers underwent a meniscus trim on his knee that led to him being ruled out.
Thankfully, the Raiders were able to overcome that loss, but that was against a lowly Dolphins team. Las Vegas may not be so lucky against better competition.
When it comes to Bowers' Week 2 status, here's what we know.
Will Brock Bowers return in Week 2?
There is indeed a chance Bowers plays in Week 2, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, who notes that the Raiders believe it's a realistic possibility.
“After undergoing a meniscus trim Tuesday, the Raiders believe there’s a realistic chance Brock Bowers will miss only one game and return for Week 2 at the Los Angeles Chargers, per sources,” Schefter said.
“Team will see how he’s feeling this week, but a potential return next week is within the realm of possibility,” Schefter added.
At the very least, it would appear that Bowers has a great chance to return in Week 3 if he doesn't come back in Week 2.
The Raiders will release their first injury report of the week on Wednesday, so we'll know more by then at the latest.
Any semblance of practice participation would amount to progress for Bowers after he didn't take part in any session last week.
How Raiders replaced Bowers
The Raiders deployed Michael Mayer as their primary tight end in Week 1, and both Ian Thomas and Chris Myarick filled in behind him.
Mayer posted six catches for 32 yards in Week 1, so he's hardly a must-start option in fantasy football moving forward.
