Why Shedeur Sanders was cited for speeding: Browns rookie QB pulled over for allegedly driving over 100 mph

Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders was reportedly pulled over for speeding in Strongville, Ohio, early Tuesday morning, per Fox 8.

Sanders, who was drafted in the fifth round of April's NFL Draft following a surprising slide down the board, is currently in competition for Cleveland's starting job as training camps have recently gotten under way.

The former Colorado quarterback and son of Deion Sanders was not arrested for his speeding incident, only receiving a citation.

Shedeur Sanders' speeding citation, explained

Fox 8 reported Wednesday afternoon that Sanders was pulled over by Strongville police around 12:24 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Strongville, a suburb of Cleveland, is about 30 minutes and 21 miles south of the city.

Sanders was reportedly going 41 mph over the speed limit on 71 North, which was 60 mph. He was issued a citation, per Fox 8, and can either fight the ticket in court or pay the fine. He was not arrested for the speeding incident. 

According to TMZ, Sanders was driving a 2025 Dodge pickup truck with Colorado plates at the time of the traffic stop.

The quarterback, 23, is currently in an open competition for the Browns' starting job alongside Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Kenny Pickett.
