Why Rodrygo could stay at Real Madrid despite Premier League interest

13 hours ago 1

Rodrygo’s future has been one of the hot topics of this summer’s transfer window. The Brazilian winger has drawn strong interest from the Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly leading the chase.

Yet, despite all the buzz, a move away from Real Madrid is far from certain.

The arrival of Kylian Mbappe at the Santiago Bernabeu has clearly changed the picture. With Vinícius Jr. and Jude Bellingham also in the mix, Rodrygo's role is under pressure.

He featured regularly last season but often had to shift positions to get game time — and not always in his favored role. Moreover, the Brazilian had a limited participation in the Club World Cup under new boss Xabi Alonso.

Meanwhile, Tottenham apparently see him as a potential game-changer in their Champions League push. According to reports (via AS), they are ready to make a serious offer.

But Real Madrid haven’t received any bid that would force them into action. The player’s camp is calm too. They are reportedly open to staying put — at least for now, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Rodrygo was included in Madrid’s squad for the Club World Cup in the U.S. but started just once.

That added fuel to speculation, especially as other Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool have apparently cooled their interest.

Should Real Madrid sell Rodrygo this summer?

Madrid face a tricky decision. They have plenty of attacking talent, and Rodrygo may not be the first name on the team sheet anymore. But letting him go now could come back to bite them.

At just 24, Rodrygo still has plenty to offer. His ability to play across the front line, combined with Champions League experience, makes him valuable — even if he’s no longer the star attraction.

Madrid are reportedly open to selling him if the right offer comes in, even below the original €90 million ($104 million) price tag.

But until that happens, Rodrygo may be staying put — still wearing white, but maybe not starting every night.
