Rob Lowe Reveals the One Habit His Son John Owen Won’t Let Him Live Down
Perhaps Rob Lowe and his St. Elmo’s Fire castmates can be friends forever.
After all, the actor explained that he, Demi Moore, Andie MacDowell, Andrew McCarthy, Ally Sheedy, Mare Winningham, Judd Nelson and Emilio Estevez are open to teaming back up for a sequel to the 1985 movie.
As for what their brat pack of post-college 20-somethings might be up to four decades later? Lowe believes the concept is “very fertile storytelling ground with characters that people would like to spend time with again.”
“I'm as interested in what happened to these characters in this stage of their lives as I was being interested in them post-college,” the 62-year-old told E! News’ Erin Lim Rhodes in an exclusive interview about his Accredited Debt Relief partnership. “I would argue that it's even more complex and deep and rich and interesting and more storytelling opportunities when you're in the middle of your life than you were post-college.”
Plus, Lowe knows there’s an “appetite” amongst fans who were desperately, completely in love with the original movie.
“I want to bring back that magic,” he continued. “Everybody's working really hard on that.”
But in order to assure fans that the characters were, in fact, always together, the Outsiders actor said the plot has to be perfect.

“We've gone through a couple versions of the script,” he explained. “We're not going to do it until it's right, and we're waiting for a new version. But everybody's really excited about it. Hopefully we can get the script right to capture that magic.”
Of course, Lowe has learned a thing or two about delivering perfection to audiences throughout his decades-long career, which began with a starring role on the 1979 sitcom A New Kind of Family.

However, compelling storytelling isn’t the only skill the former child star has gained since then. Indeed, he admitted that his early career was filled with “a lot of trial and error” when it came to managing his money, which is why he is partnering with Accredited Debt Relief.
“I kind of had to make it up as I went along,” he shared, “which is why it appealed to me to team up with Accredited Debt Relief. Having an expert help you, particularly when you need it, is a great thing.”
And Lowe appreciates that Accredited Debt Relief—an organization that aims to help individuals reduce and streamline their debt payments so they can focus on the important aspects of life—offers financial mentorship, which is what he has provided to his and wife Sheryl Berkoff’s sons Matthew Edward, 32, and John Owen, 30.
“The first thing I taught them was to be entrepreneurial,” he said. “I love thinking back on the lemonade stands and the car washes and how to make money, and then what to do with it—like take X amount and squirrel it away.”
He added, “It's an ongoing conversation that everybody has with their kids, and I loved doing it.”
