Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been ordered to serve time in jail due to a violation of his probation, NBC 5 first reported Tuesday.
Rice tested positive for marijuana, which is set to result in 30 days of jail time. The Chiefs' OTAs are set to begin on May 26.
The 25-year-old wide receiver was suspended for the first six games of the 2025 season for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy in relation to a multi-car crash on a Dallas highway in March 2024, later pleading guilty to two third-degree felony charges.
Why Rashee Rice will miss Chiefs OTAs
NBC 5 reported on Tuesday that court documents in Dallas County showed that Rice tested positive for THC, which was a a violation of his probation for charges related to the multi-car crash in Dallas in 2024.
Rice has been ordered to serve 30 days in jail and be released on June 16, per NBC 5. He was reportedly booked at the Dallas County jail around 12 p.m. on Tuesday.
With the Chiefs' OTAs set to begin on May 26 and run through late-May and early-June, then mandatory minicamp arriving on June 9, Rice is set to be absent as Kansas City makes its early preparations for the 2026 season.
