A Russian player hadn't been drafted in the first round in more than a decade.

Demin is a 6-foot-9 point guard with the best vision in the draft.

At No. 8, it's worth the risk.
Especially for Brooklyn, which has five first-round picks. They can afford to take a couple risks. They only need one or two to really work out.
And if Demin works out, he's an All-Star with a game that will stand out thanks to his combination of size, precision and vision.
