Despite not technically losing on Sunday, the Washington Commanders continue to face the biggest backlash from their result in Week 5.
The Commanders tied with the New York Giants at home, but it felt like a loss with the way the game ended. Washington was in position to win the game when it let the clock run out at the end of overtime, unable to get a field-goal attempt off.
In the days since, fans and analysts have discussed who is to blame for the miscue. While head coach Dan Quinn certainly shoulders much of it, quarterback Jayden Daniels has also had to face backlash for seemingly not knowing the situation.

Parsons addressed the Commanders' tie on the latest episode of "The Edge with Micah Parsons," which is Parsons' weekly podcast. Here is what he said.

Micah Parsons on Jayden Daniels, Dan Quinn
After the Commanders tie on Sunday, Packers pass rusher Micah Parsons addressed who he thinks is to blame for the final play of the game. It shouldn't be much of a surprise, then that Parson blamed quarterback Jayden Daniels over Dan Quinn, who was his former defensive coordinator.
"Jayden Daniels probably cost my man Dan Quinn his job, to be honest with you," Parsons said. "To be honest with you. And, like, I'm a big Jayden Daniels fan. But the reality is, he probably cost a lot of people their jobs this past weekend."
Parsons played for Quinn from 2021 to 2023, as the veteran coach was the pass rusher's first defensive coordinator in the NFL. His reasoning for blaming Daniels, though, is that he believes the Commanders players were coached on what to do in that situation.
"Respectfully, we get coached so much on these situations," he added. "I'm a defensive player, and this s*** is programmed to me."
Micah Parsons calls out Jayden Daniels: “Jayden Daniels probably cost my man Dan Quinn his job. And, I'm a big Jayden Daniels fan. ... Respectfully, we get coached so much on these situations. I'm a defensive player, and this sh*t is programmed to me." (The Edge with Micah Parsons on @BleacherReport)
— Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) October 13, 2026Parsons called out Daniels as a third-year starter who should have been more aware of the situation and not reliant on his coaching staff to tell him what to do. However, if one of Daniels or Quinn has to lose their job over the team's disappointing season, the head coach is more likely to go while the franchise quarterback's status isn't in as much trouble.
Parsons is not the only person to put this blame on Daniels, but he does seem to be the only active player who's made his opinion known.
