What Meghan Markle Wishes She Could Change About Public Perception
Meghan Markle is pressing the pause button.
Amid the Duchess of Sussex’s many business endeavors—including Netflix series With Love, Meghan and lifestyle brand As Ever—Meghan has decided to postpone a second season of her podcast Confessions of a Female Founder. She cited her reasoning for the decision as an attempt to listen to the advice many of her guests provided.
“What an amazing opportunity, to pull back the curtain and let people see what’s happening at the start,” she told fellow podcaster Emma Grede during a June 17 guest appearance, “to have the opportunity to talk to so many female founders who've been on that full trajectory, that are on the other side of success. To be able to be really candid and vulnerable personally about my learns and stumbles along the way.”
Meghan continued, “And to then take everyone's advice, and mine included, and to say ‘I love that there's so much excitement and desire for another season, but I need to focus on my business.’”
After all, the 43-year-old—who shares kids Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 3, with husband Prince Harry—has a lot on her plate.
“People seem to forget that very rarely do people see everything that's happening behind the scenes,” she explained. “I could show a small glimpse of that, but equally yes, I wrapped season one of my Netflix series—still had to promote it, still had to be in the edits. For season two, we were in pre-production of one season while we were doing post-production of the other—it's constant. I just wrapped edits on season two of With Love, Meghan last week, so it's still ongoing while also doing a podcast while also building my business.”

She quipped, “At a certain point the only thing I want spread thin is my jam.”
And while she noted she has enjoyed the ability to share this period of her life, she also needs to listen to the “valuable insight coming from women who have been through this before” and prioritize.
“So does it mean it won't come back? No,” Meghan assured listeners. “But I would love to bring the show back when I am at a different end of my founder journey. When I've gone through Q4 and say, ‘Here are my proof points. Wow, what a year it’s been.’ Or even longer than that. I think a different time will be so exciting to be able to compare and contrast.”

But the Suits alum will carry the lessons she learned from her guests with her, she said, chief among them the idea that “someone else's urgency is not my urgency.”
“Most of the women that I spoke to are working moms,” she explained. “And this is such a key age, I don't want to miss a moment for my children.”
