In a battle of two powerhouses, and of two of the best players the sport has ever seen, Northwestern and Madison Taylor outdueled Chloe Humphrey and North Carolina.
The Wildcats are national champions, winning on Sunday over UNC in a game conveniently played at their home field.
Taylor was a star, as usual, but then something weird happened.
When the game was over, and an all-tournament team was released, Taylor wasn't on it.
Why didn't Madison Taylor make the all-tournament team?
This is one that doesn't have an answer: There's absolutely no explanation.
Taylor scored the most points for Northwestern in every game of the tournament.
— Deemer Class (@22classy) May 24, 2026In an opening win over James Madison, Taylor scored eight goals.
She went for four goals and an assist against Colorado.
In the semifinal, she had four goals and four assists against Johns Hopkins.
And against UNC, Taylor had six assists and scored her lone goal as the dagger off a great run from the right wing, past defenders and tucking the ball into the goal.
Taylor was her usual superstar self. The snub is simply bizarre.
