The greatest young player in the world, Lamine Yamal, is approaching his chance to make an impact at the World Cup for Spain.
The Spanish national team will first tune up with a pair of friendlies, starting with Iraq on Thursday and then taking on Peru on Monday.
It's a chance to get the squad in sync after they all arrive from their club seasons, including Yamal's standout campaign with FC Barcelona in La Liga.
But as far as the friendlies are concerned, there are various priorities.
On Thursday, Yamal doesn't start for Spain, but it's not anything to be worried about.
Why isn't Lamine Yamal playing for Spain today vs. Iraq?
The Spanish side appears to be just resting a lot of key contributors.
While they want to get up to speed, they also don't need to risk injury in friendlies.
It's a long list of absences:

There's nothing to suggest that Yamal won't be ready to factor into the World Cup.
