The Houston Texans have navigated the 2025 season without two of their key offensive weapons, wide receiver Tank Dell and running back Joe Mixon.
Both players haven't taken the field this season because of injuries.
Mixon suffered a foot injury during the offseason that has kept him on the non-football injury list the entire campaign.
Meanwhile, Dell is still recovering from a catastrophic knee injury suffered near the end of last season that has kept him from seeing the field ever since.
Here are the latest injury updates on both Texans stars.
Why Joe Mixon isn't playing today
The details surrounding Mixon's foot injury remain a mystery, and while there was some hope he would play at some point this season, that never came to fruition.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported back in November that Mixon would not play at all this season, but Mixon took issue with that report, which seemed to indicate he might actually play.
But as we enter the divisional round of the playoffs, Mixon still hasn't been activated and will almost certainly not return this season, even if the Texans continue to advance.
Why Tank Dell isn't playing today
Dell's knee injury was about as bad as one could imagine.
In Week 16 last season, Dell suffered a dislocated kneecap that also included multiple torn ligaments, which is common with such an injury.
The expectation all along was that Dell would need the entire 2025 season to recover, and that ended up being the case.
There is no expectation for Dell to play in the later rounds of the playoffs if the Texans advance.
