ESPN's Adam Schefter shared the news on social media on Friday morning, and it certainly seemed a bit random.

The NFL insider decided to share with the football world that Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward had lost 10 pounds this offseason.

It doesn't sound like a major amount, and it's also the middle of May, but the context comes because Ward spoke about his offseason habits with reporters at OTAs this week.

And as Ward enters his second year in the NFL, it is actually quite notable.

Why this matters

Ward didn't just lose weight randomly.

Ward being 10 pounds lighter may matter a bit on the field for his mobility. He showed more willingness to run in key spots during the second half of his rookie season.

But more than that, this shows Ward's commitment. When a franchise takes a QB with the first overall pick, part of the hope is that he has the right attitude to maximize his potential.

It sure seems like Ward has approached things the right way, which can only create optimism about the future in Tennessee.
