Why is Beyonce performing during Ravens vs. Texans NFL Christmas game on Netflix?

11 hours ago 1

It looked like 2024 could be a year that the NFL didn't feature a game on Christmas. The holiday falls on a Wednesday, which is a rare day for the NFL to play.

Not to miss out on the viewership and ensuing payday, the NFL partnered with Netflix to have two games on Christmas Day. The first will feature the Steelers hosting the Chiefs, followed by the Ravens going on the road to face the Texans

Similar to Thanksgiving, the NFL hopes to have expanded halftime shows featuring bigger acts than we typically see. For normal games, you may see a corgi race, dogs catching frisbees over great distances or pee wee football teams duking it out. For Christmas, the Ravens-Texans game will feature one of the biggest musical artists in the world: Beyonce will headline an NFL halftime show for the first time since her Super Bowl performance in 2013.

Here is why Beyonce is performing the Ravens-Texas Christmas halftime show.

Why is Beyonce performing during Ravens vs. Texans NFL Christmas game?

Queen B is from Houston, Texas. The game between the Ravens and Texans will be held at NRG Stadium in Houston.

With the game being played in Houston and Beyonce being one of the biggest musicians in the world, she is a great choice for the halftime show. This will be her first performance since releasing her country album, Cowboy Carter.

Beyonce was announced as the halftime performer in November and she released a promotional video for it on Dec. 11. The music icon was dressed head to toe in white, including a white cowboy hat. She was seen putting an ornament on a tree, but then it turned out it was a cactus and was lit up for the holiday.

Beyonce's name for her halftime show is "A Cowboy Carter Christmas." While we don't have a set list yet, it is expected to be a mix of her songs and some classic Christmas songs.

What time is Ravens vs. Texans halftime show on Christmas?

Kickoff from NRG Stadium is set for 4:30 p.m. ET. Both of the Christmas Day games are on Netflix, and the Ravens-Texans game is the second game of the day. There should be plenty of time for the first game to end and the second to start on time, but you never know.

Assuming the Ravens-Texans game starts on time, Beyonce's halftime show should start around 6 p.m. ET, but it depends on how long the first half takes. Both teams like running the ball, so it could be a quick half.

If you only want to tune in for Queen B's performance, it'd be good to turn the game on around 5:30 p.m. ET just to be safe.
