Why Gypsy Rose Blanchard, Ken Urker Live Apart After Daughter's Birth

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard Breaks Down Over Telling Daughter About Her Past

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is looking forward to starting a new chapter.

Indeed, since being let out of prison in December 2023 after 8 years in behind bars for her role in the 2015  murder of her mother Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, the 33-year-old has been under strict parole conditions. One of which is being unable to live with Ken Urker, with whom she shares daughter Aurora Raina Urker.

“Everything is day by day right now,” Gypsy said on the May 19 episode of Gypsy Rose Life After Lock Up. “So, we’re just winging it. It’s hard to keep up a relationship whenever you’re living in two separate places, and you've got schedules that interfere.”

Ken, who rekindled his relationship with Gypsy in April 2024, has also felt the strain of the distance.

“Gypsy’s been gone all week, and my little Aurora isn’t home,” he told producers in a separate scene. “It definitely feels a little depressing around the house. I feel like I have no purpose during the daytime before work. I feel like I have to find things to occupy my time, it’s very lonely.”

Gypsy isn’t allowed to live in the same household as her boyfriend until the end of her parole, which is scheduled for June 25, 2025. And while she waits out the rest of her time, the reality star admitted that she already has a bucket list of things she wants to do when she’s officially free.

“Move in with you,” Gypsy told Ken as she wrote down her bucket list, that also included traveling out of the state to Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Iceland, drinking at a bar and speaking to prisoners about prison reform.

For Ken, having the two loves of his life under one roof is the most important.

“We can all be a family finally under one roof finally,” he exclaimed. “That’s the biggest one.”

After going on a date to a nature museum, Ken couldn’t help but gush about Gypsy’s upcoming freedom after witnessing her release a butterfly.

“Freedom, coming out into the world and actually being able to enjoy it, something that Gypsy’s never really been able to do,” he said when asked what seeing Gypsy release the insect meant to him. “And it’s going to get even better in a few months when she’s off parole. We can actually travel and get to see more stuff. She’s been the best mother I could ever want for my child.”

“And I’m super proud that I get to go on this journey with her,” he added. “And the three of us are experiencing life in an all new way. It’s been glorious. I’m loving every minute of it. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.”

Ken is so certain about his future with Gypsy, he shopped for an engagement ring, which he plans on presenting to her once her parole is up.

“I want to unite us as a family,” he said. “I know that Gypsy’s the partner I want to go through life with. And I want to raise our daughter together as strong as possible. It’s about reassuring her that I’m committed to us. There’s nobody else I want to experience life with other than her.”
