Why did Blake Snell struggle vs. Blue Jays? Dodgers ace reveals exactly what went wrong in Game 1

The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to win the World Series in back-to-back appearances for the first time in a very long time. However, the Toronto Blue Jays are no slouch. Since last week, it has been clear who the Dodgers’ starting pitchers would be.

“Dave Roberts said Blake Snell and Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start the first two games of the World Series,” The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya wrote.

Snell has undoubtedly been the ace of the Dodgers’ staff since the start of the postseason. He was dominant early on, and heading into Toronto, he was the most reliable starter to get them off to a strong start. This is exactly what he came to Los Angeles to be a part of.

“But just seeing what they’re able to do and wanting to be a part of it and knowing how important postseason is to them, that’s just something I wanted to be a part of. Even playing against them, watching, it was just always in the back of my mind, like, I wanted to be a Dodger and play on that team,” Snell said. “To be here now it’s a dream come true. I couldn’t wish for anything more. I’m just going to do the best I can to help us win a World Series.”

Game 1 didn’t go according to plan, as the Blue Jays roughed Snell up in what turned out to be his worst outing of the postseason. After the game, he detailed exactly what went wrong.

“I just wasn't locating the ball... command of the fastball wasn't great... frustrating but I learned a lot,” Snell told the media.

The Dodgers now find themselves in a hole for the first time this postseason. It’s up to them to climb out of it.

This series is shaping up to be a long one, so Snell must flush this outing and focus on his next start. He’s been too good this postseason to have back-to-back rough appearances.
