Why “Devastated” Ariana Grande Is Missing Wicked: For Good Premiere

Ariana Grande Reveals Wickedly Good Brunette Hair Transformation

Ariana Grande couldn’t defy gravity for this special occasion.

The “Popular” singer revealed she won’t be joining Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, and more at the Wicked: For Good world premiere in Brazil on Nov. 4 due to an Issue with her flight.

“Brazil, I can’t believe this is happening and I am beyond devastated to be sending this message,” Ariana wrote on her Nov. 3 Instagram Stories. “A few hours ago, my team and I had to deplane our flight, as they had to do maintenance on the plane due to a safety issue and it will not be taking off until 11 a.m. tomorrow, which means that I would not be making it in time.”

The 32-year-old—who stars as Glinda opposite Cynthia’s Elphaba’s in 2024’s Wicked and the sequel releasing in theaters Nov. 21—noted that “my team and Universal have tried every single thing possible to fix this,” including searching for different flight options.

However, none of those alternatives would get her there before the film’s premiere.

“Even in attempting a private option, there is a permit necessary in order to fly from here that takes time to attain,” the Eternal Sunshine singer explained. “I am so heartbroken that I’m unable to be there with you all. Please shower my incredible castmates with all of the love that I wish I could be showering you with and have the most beautiful celebration. I am so, so very sorry.”

Despite not being able to reunite with the Wicked team, Ariana is toss, toss-ing some love to her costar Jonathan. Indeed, she and the rest of the cast—including director Jon M. Chu, Marissa Bode, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Bowen Yang and Ethan Slaterdedicated a lighthearted video to the Bridgerton star after he was revealed to be People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2025.

And it seems the 37-year-old knew the cast and his loved ones would have this jovial reaction to his handsome achievement, even though he had to keep the news a secret for quite some time.

“I think a lot of my friends will be furious that I haven’t told them,” Jonathan explained to People in a Nov. 3 interview. “They’ll be furious, and then they’ll squeal with delight. Also, they’ve seen me grow up. There are other truths that they know and have witnessed. They know the secrets.”

As for Wicked, the thrillifying film isn’t the only major release that’ll grace the big screen this month. Keep reading to see more movies that made a statement in 2025…
