Nick Chubb is an exciting name, even if his game doesn't quite match at this point.
The running back is still a free agent, too, and one idea circulating is that Chubb could be a good fit for the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys have a leader in the backfield, Javonte Williams, but at this stage, you really can't have too much RB depth.
Behind Williams, it gets a bit iffy in a hurry. Malik Davis, Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah are among the other backs currently in Dallas.
When you put Chubb against that list, he sounds pretty good.
Why Cowboys should sign Nick Chubb
Dallas isn't in a spot to make any more flashy offensive moves. They've already got a lot of cash devoted to that side of the football.
But someone like Chubb, the former Browns star most recently with the Texans, would come relatively cheap and provide what the Cowboys need.
"A veteran grinder at this point of his career, Chubb could provide value as the Cowboys' No. 2 or No. 3 option behind starter Javonte Williams," ESPN's Matt Bowen wrote in a new article on Monday. "Chubb can still secure catches on swings and checkdowns in the passing game, but he should be viewed as an early-down option who can use his power and vision in short-yardage situations. He rushed for 520 yards in Houston last season."
A team with one obvious RB1 like the Cowboys certainly hopes it doesn't need a ton of depth, but if Williams goes down, the lack of depth can become apparent in a hurry.
Chubb would be a relatively simple way to solve that.
