Why Colts parted ways with Kenny Moore, and what it means for Cowboys

1 hour ago 2

The news popped up a bit unexpectedly on Thursday afternoon.

The Indianapolis Colts are cutting ties with safety Kenny Moore. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Moore "asked for and was granted his release."

That will now free Moore up to sign with any team that is interested.

Why are the Colts and Kenny Moore parting ways?

Moore apparently didn't like the reported trade talks that were ongoing for the Colts involving him.

The Colts were looking to trade Moore rather than deal with his $13.1 million cap hit for the 2026 season.

Moore will turn 31 in August and is coming off a season in which he made 55 tackles and intercepted one pass in 14 games.

That just didn't add up any more in Indianapolis.

How the Cowboys could factor in

Dallas has spent this entire offseason trying to improve its defense.

Moore would be an upgrade to a secondary still in need of help.

The Cowboys may not have been a logical trade partner with Indy for Moore. But now that he's a free agent, he could be just the right fit for Jerry Jones to sign.
