The Cleveland Browns might be in the market to draft another quarterback.
While this seems to be the same revolving storyline over the past 25 years, one elite passer makes sense on a personal level. Miami’s Carson Beck has known new Browns coach Todd Monken for the greater part of two decades and gushed about the possibility of playing for the NFL's worst franchise for quarterbacks.
"I was with Monk in my first three years at Georgia," Beck told reporters. "I love him personally. I've actually known him since I was seven or eight years old. I played baseball with his son whenever he was the wide receiver coach for the Jaguars. So that's cool.
"I've been able to have a really good relationship with him over the years and obviously at georgia. He taught me a lot of what I know. So again, he's an amazing coach. I had the opportunity to talk with him a little bit the other day when I was done with all of my interviews. We walked and chatted for a little bit. So I love coach Monk. He's an awesome coach and a great guy."

— Mary Kay Cabot (@MaryKayCabot) February 27, 2026Beck spent three years with Monken at Georgia before transferring to Miami. The two know each other very well. Monken was the offensive coordinator for a majority of Beck’s games, throwing for over 7,000 yards and 56 touchdowns. He played six college seasons, passing for 11,725 yards with 88 touchdowns and 32 interceptions.
This might be one of Beck's biggest selling factors to the Browns. He knows the system and can be an asset. With Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel and Deshaun Watson on the roster, there will either be more turnover or working with what exists in Cleveland. Given the fact Beck and other QBs are doing formal interviews, don't expect any of the three mentioned above to be long-term options.

“That would obviously be super cool,” Beck said about being drafted by the Browns. “Any team that’s going to draft me, I’m super grateful for the opportunity, but if coach Monken were to be my coach again, obviously I really enjoyed him being my coach at the University of Georgia, and what I was able to learn from him there. So, I’d be super stoked.”
Beck plans to throw at the NFL Combine on Saturday.
