Nicola Peltz Beckham and Brooklyn Beckham reportedly skipped Selena Gomez’s wedding because the couple and the singer are “not as close as they once were.”
After the duo were noticeably missing from the star-studded union of Gomez and Benny Blanco last month, reports of a feud began to surface. On Tuesday, an insider refuted claims that the pop star was “cut off” and “betrayed” by Nicola and Brooklyn, insisting that “there’s no bad blood.”
“Relationships evolve, and it’s true they’re not as close as they once were, but there wasn’t any one thing that happened,” the source told People.
Reps for Nicola and Brooklyn were not immediately available to Page Six for comment.
Shortly before the lavish matrimony in Santa Barbara, Calif., with A-list guests including Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, Page Six exclusively reported that the couple were not expected to attend the wedding.
A source close to Nicola, 30, shared a similar sentiment that their absence had nothing to do with a falling out, but rather that she was in “pre-production for a very rigorous film shoot” at the time.
Gomez, 33, and Nicola became friends after meeting at the Academy Museum Gala in October 2022. The following year, the billionaire heiress told Cosmopolitan UK how she and the former Disney star just “clicked” after attending the event together.
“And then we became super, super close. I feel like she’s my soul sister. I love her so much. She’s truly one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met in my whole life,” she said.
“The kindest person ever. Truly, her heart is gold. I feel like I’ve known her forever,” Nicola added.
In January 2023, the former besties debuted their matching tattoos. The duo got “angel” inked on their forearms in a delicate font during their New Year’s Eve trip to Los Cabos with Brooklyn, 26.
In another Instagram post from the trip, Gomez even joked that she and the couple — who wed in April 2022 — were a “throuple” and she was their “forever plus one.”

Once the “Only Murders in the Building” star began dating Blanco, 37, in July 2023, the BFFs seemed to spend less time together. Gomez even admitted that she missed the “Bates Motel” star in January 2024.
Later that month, Gomez and Blanco threw Nicola a pajama party to celebrate her 29th birthday and shared several snaps from the bash.
“I’m so grateful for all the beautiful and kind people in my life,” the birthday girl captioned an Instagram post at the time.
“all my best friends surprised me for my birthday with a pj night and we played games 🥹 (my heaven!) thank you all so much for making me feel so loved,” she added, before giving Gomez and Blanco a shoutout.
“i love you all so much and thank you benny for making the best food everrrr and you and sel for hosting 😭😭🍔🥂.”
The friends were pictured celebrating Blanco’s 36th birthday in March 2024, with both of them sharing photos together from the party on Instagram, but since then, the once inseparable pair have not been seen publicly together.
