The Los Angeles Angels have nothing to lose and much to gain.
The AL West club is going to miss the postseason for the 12th straight season, as it's at the bottom of the American League standings.
Sure, Mike Trout's preference is to stay with the organization that drafted him all those years ago.
But other players should be made available for trade at this year's deadline, which is in exactly two weeks.
Los Angeles has starting pitchers who could help it acquire prospects to hopefully turn the franchise in the right direction, but it has to be willing to make those moves.
"[Reid] Detmers and [Jose] Soriano are both arbitration-eligible for two more seasons, and nothing gets buyers more excited than controllable pitching," MLB.com's Mark Feinsand wrote.
"The Angels have been hesitant sellers in recent years, but if [John] Mozeliak can convince owner Arte Moreno that selling is the right move, these two arms would be highly coveted and should bring back solid returns."

Detmers is a solid middle-of-the-rotation arm with a 4.16 ERA and 130 strikeouts over 114.2 innings in 2026.
Though he has command issues, Soriano could also slot into a postseason team's rotation. He began the season with a 25.2-inning scoreless streak and owns a 3.49 ERA in 20 starts.
Both Detmers and Soriano are under club control through the 2028 season.
Is either pitcher worth more than a few middle-tier prospects?
Probably not, but it would help the Angels jumpstart a "rebuild," or whatever you want to call it, that's lasted far too long.
