The 2026 NBA offseason continues to deliver blockbuster trades, with the latest coming from the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Celtics are trading All-NBA forward Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks.
"BLOCKBUSTER: The Boston Celtics have agreed to trade Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks, sources tell ESPN," Charania wrote.
Why 76ers and Celtics pulled off blockbuster trade
Brown's exit from Boston has been inevitable ever since the team included him in trade talks for Giannis Antetokounmpo. It was clear both sides were ready for a breakup, and both got their wish with Brown heading to Philly.
As for the 76ers, George had a disappointing debut campaign with the franchise in 2025, and getting off that contract and finding an upgrade to pair with Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Joel Embiid looked to be a priorty.
The acquisition of Brown should firmly place Philadelphia as the second-best team in the East behind the defending champion New York Knicks.
Getting George and valuable draft capital back for Brtown is a nice return for the Celtics, but the organization can't be happy with how things ended with the 2016 No. 3 overall pick. It's truly the end of an era in Boston.
