Whoopi Goldberg shocked the audience of ABC’s “The View” on Wednesday when she revealed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) – a longtime Trump ally – will appear on the lefty talk show next week.
“The View” isn’t usually seen as friendly territory for GOPers, with its infamously progressive slew of hosts. But Greene has been making the rounds on lefty channels since siding with Dems’ calls to extend Obamacare tax credits – the main sticking point in the government shutdown.
“People in Washington are starting to say ‘my constituents.’ You know, they’re starting to remember why they’re there,” Goldberg said during the show Wednesday.

Whoopi Goldberg shocked the audience of ABC’s “The View” by revealing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene will appear on the show next week. ABC/The View“Marjorie Taylor Greene – I’m happy to say that she’s going to be here on Tuesday,” she added.
Someone in the studio can be heard gasping and saying, “Oh!” while the audience applauded.
Greene’s guest appearance “happens to be on Election Day,” co-host Joy Behar added.
“I don’t know how many things we agree on, but I know the one thing that she and I and all of us at this table agree on is this should not be affecting the American people,” Goldberg continued, referencing the shutdown – which has entered its 31st day with no end in sight.
The hosts of “The View” – including Goldberg, Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro – stunned their audience earlier this month by showering the Georgia congresswoman with praise.
At the time, Goldberg lauded Greene as “a very surprising voice of reason.”
“What the hell is going on?” Goldberg joked.
Behar jumped in, saying the congresswoman “also has a couple of kids who need – the insurance premiums are going up, so it’s very personal to her. You know, I’ll take it.”
In a social media post earlier this month, Greene clarified she is “not a fan” of Obamacare, adding that she was not in Congress when the 44th president’s signature legislation took effect in 2010.
“But I’m going to go against everyone on this issue because when the tax credits expire this year my own adult children’s insurance premiums for 2026 are going to DOUBLE, along with all the wonderful families and hard-working people in my district,” she wrote.
Earlier this month, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin joked: “It’s a dark day when Marjorie Taylor Greene is the voice of reason.”
“But you know what they say about a blind squirrel, so I completely agree with her,” she continued.
After Goldberg admitted she’d never heard the saying, Griffin explained: “A blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.”
