The 2026 Westminster Dog Show was a special milestone, marking the 150th running of the event.

This year, the Best in Show went to a breed that hasn't found much recent success, as Penny the Doberman Pinscher came out on top. It was the first time in over 35 years that a Doberman Pinscher was named Best in Show.

Who won Best in Show 2026?

Penny, the Doberman Pinscher whose show name is GCHP CH Connquest Best Of Both Worlds, was named Best in Show for the 150th Westminster Dog Show in 2026.

Penny beat out a group of finalists that included an Afghan Hound, a Maltese, an Old English Sheepdog and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever for first place. Penny was born in 2021 and won the Working Group just earlier in the night.

Penny's handler, Andy Linton, is a veteran of the Dog Show and was also the handler of the Doberman Pinscher to last win Best in Show.

What breed is the Westminster Dog Show winner Penny?

Penny is a Doberman Pinscher, becoming the fourth of its breed to win the Westminster Dog Show. Doberman Pinschers last won Best in Show in 1989, and also came in first place in 1952, 1953 and 1939.

This is now the second-straight year that a dog from the Working Group won Best in Show, as Monty the giant schnauzer won Best in Show from the group in 2025.
