Who is Tyler Huntley? Get to know Ravens QB replacing Lamar Jackson in Week 17 vs. Packers

The Baltimore Ravens will be without starting quarterback Lamar Jackson in Week 17 versus the Green Bay Packers, so Tyler Huntley will be under center for John Harbaugh's squad.

Jackson didn't practice all week after suffering a back injury in the first half of the team's Week 16 loss to the New England Patriots. With Jackson out of the lineup, Huntley will look to fill his place and keep Baltimore's slim playoff hopes alive.

That said, let's get to know Huntley as he commands Baltimore's offense on Saturday in Green Bay.

Who is Tyler Huntley?

Huntley played four seasons of college football at Utah. He was the Utes' starter for three of those years, tossing 46 touchdowns and 20 interceptions with another 16 scores on the ground.

After going undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, Huntley signed with the Ravens. He made his first NFL appearance in Week 15 of the 2020 season versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, completing two of four passes for seven yards and 18 rushing yards.

Huntley's first start came a year later, in 2021, against the Chicago Bears. The 27-year-old won that game in Chicago in place of the injured Jackson and went on to start three more games that season, though he lost all of them.

From 2022 to 2023, Huntley went on to make eight more starts, posting a 2-3 record. He was even selected to the Pro Bowl in 2022, replacing the Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen. Huntley earned a Pro Bowl despite throwing just two touchdown passes and three interceptions that season.

Huntley left Baltimore in 2024 and signed with the Cleveland Browns. He was released by the Browns before the season, then returned to the Ravens' practice squad before being signed by the Miami Dolphins.

In five starts with Miami while filling in for Tua Tagovailoa, Huntley tallied a 2-3 record with four total touchdowns.

After going unsigned during the 2025 offseason, Huntley headed back to Cleveland. However, the Browns released him ,and Huntley found his way back to Baltimore.

Now in his third stint with the Ravens, Huntley has stepped in for Jackson as the starter. He made a start this year in Week 8 versus the Bears, and led Baltimore to a 30-16 victory, tossing a touchdown and completing 17-of-22 passes for 186 yards with 53 yards on the ground.

Huntley also came in for Jackson last week versus the Patriots, and though Baltimore lost, the Ravens' backup signal-caller completed nine of 10 passes for 65 yards.
