Who is 'The Thiccer Kicker'? Meet Harrison Mevis, Rams big-bodied kicker with all-time nickname

1 hour ago 2

In a season when kickers were like a revolving door for NFL organizations, having one you trust is essential.

The Los Angeles Rams had to replace Joshua Karty after some poor performances. As a result, Harrison Mevis rose to stardom for his elite kicking and his particular build for the position.

Not every team can have a Cameron Dicker or Brandon Aubrey, but getting a kicker midseason who simply does not miss is even rarer.

Since becoming the starter for the Rams, Mevis has gone 12-13 on FGs and 39-39 on PATs.

The Sporting News has everything you need to know about Harrison Mevis and his nickname.

Who is 'The Thiccer Kicker'?

The "Thiccer Kicker" is Mevis, of course. The rookie kicker out of Missouri spent a season in the UFL with the Birmingham Stallions.

This nickname originated with his college teammate and has stuck ever since. Grant McKinniss is credited with creating the nickname, based on his unique frame for a kicker.

However, if anything, being this size allowed Mevis to drill kicks such as this one.
