It's well-known that it pays to be a superstar golfer. But as some may sometimes forget, it also pays handsomely to be a caddie on the PGA Tour.
Scottie Scheffler, a multi-time major winner, has become one of the most recognizable names in the sport throughout his ascension to becoming world No. 1. A significant part of Scheffler's growth into stardom, however, has been his partnership with his caddie.
Ted Scott has been by Scheffler's side on the greens since 2021, a pairing that has since produced two Masters victories and plenty of other big-time wins. But this also isn't Scott's first go-around with a star golfer, as he spent 15 years with another high-profile name.

Who is Scottie Scheffler's caddie?
Scheffler's caddie since 2021 has been Ted Scott. While Scheffler began his PGA Tour career with Scott McGuinness by his side, he switched caddies in the fall of 2021, beginning a successful partnership with Scott.
Scott did not play collegiate golf, only spending some time playing mini-tour golf, but he did join Scheffler already with a ton of experience on the greens. He spent 15 years as a caddie with Bubba Watson, including two major wins, up until September 2021.
It wasn't a rough split, as Watson and Scott have both praised one another in the years since. Watson wrote in a social media post that Scott "deserves more credit than anyone can imagine for our success on the golf course," and the two remain close.
“Bubba and I are still very good friends,” Scott said, per Golf Monthly. “We just had some different ideas in our life of where we are and where we wanted to go.”
Faith played a significant role in Scheffler deciding to pair-up with Scott. Per Golf Monthly, the star golfer knew of Scott through a bible study Scheffler did with Watson during the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. When the opportunity came up, Scheffler thought Scott could help him elevate his game.
"I just think the world of him as a person so that was why I was attracted to him just being a potential good partner for me out on the course," Scheffler said of Scott, per Golf Monthly. "I really wanted to work with a Christian, too. That’s how I try to live my life.”
However, Scott was unsure initially if he wanted to join Scheffler. Not only did he ask his family "to pray upon it for a week," but on the Netflix docuseries "Full Swing," Scott later revealed that he thought Scheffler was "kind of fiesty" and didn't know if he wanted to work with him due to his "attitude."
"When I posed that question to him, he said, ‘That’s a fair question and I’m willing to work on it.’ All I need is a little bit of hope and I’m willing to get behind anybody," Scott said, per Golf Monthly. "So I decided to take the job and here we are.”
That decision has paid off for both sides. As of July 2025, Scheffler owns a total of 16 wins on the PGA Tour, including three majors. He's become one of the game's biggest stars, regularly contending for wins, and he's been ranked as world No. 1 since March of 2022.

Ted Scott major history
Before he became Scheffler's caddie, Scott had previously worked with Bubba Watson, Grant Waite, Paul Azinger and Olin Browne.

Ted Scott net worth
Given the amount of winning that Scheffler has done in his professional career thus far, it's fair to say that Scott is likely well-compensated.
According to The Mirror US, Scott is "thought to take home the typical percentage of winnings" for a caddie, which typically falls around 10 percent of their player's victory purse, 7 percent for top-10 finishes, and 5 percent for any other placement. They also may make a weekly salary.
Scheffler said on the "Pardon My Take" podcast in 2024 that his finances are handled by a member of his staff, and he isn't very involved.
"It's been a fun year, I don't really think about the money that much," said Scheffler on the Pardon My Take podcast in 2024. " I'm just playing golf, and the money is just a gift on top of that. ...We have a girl that helps us pay bills basically because I'm a child and I can't keep track of all that stuff. She quickly took over that job and texts me at the end of each week, saying: 'Hey, this is how much we're paying Ted?' I'm like: 'That's great.'"
While his annual salary is unknown, Golf Monthly estimated that in 2024 alone, Scott made over $5 million just from Scheffler's wins and other top finishes, not counting any salary he's also potentially paid.
Through the Traveler's Championship in 2025, Golf Monthly also estimated, using the traditional PGA Tour caddie rates, that Scott had accumulated around $1.37 million this year just from his share in Scheffler's high finishes and wins.
In 2023, Southampton Golf Club estimated that Scott was worth between $1 million and $4 million, but that's certainly increased with Scheffler's success in recent years. All things told, there are no official numbers on Scott's net worth, but he's undoubtedly earned the millions based on Scheffler's many victories and the basic percentages that caddies receive.
