SM Entertainment Japan has formally introduced its new, eight-person, entirely Japanese female musical act, designated GPP. The unit is affiliated with Warner Music Japan. The octet will issue a pre-debut digital track, Bring it Back, on December 16, 2025. Their primary, full-scale single is slated for release soon after, on January 14, 2026.

In the acronym, “G” signifies Genkai Toppa, which loosely translates to “breaking barriers.” The “PP” represents Paper Plane. This combination encapsulates their core belief: fortitude and a firm intention to transcend all confines, with the ultimate goal of elevating Japanese popular music to a worldwide platform.

Following GPP's digital debut with Bring it Back, the inaugural CD Single arrives on January 14 next year. The CD will feature the lead single, Motivation, and Buzz Down. It comes in two configurations: a Limited Edition and a Standard Edition.

The girl group will hold its initial live performance, the GPP Debut Showcase Live, on December 15 this year at an unrevealed Tokyo site. Attendance is secured via a lottery. Entrants must procure both CD editions exclusively through the Warner Music Store. The sign-up window is open until November 30.

The showcase begins at 6:30 pm JST. A pre-debut documentary, GPP Fly: Cliff-Edge Paper Plane Takeoff, will detail the group's rigorous preparation. It will be shown on BS Fuji on November 29 at 1:00 am.

Segments focusing solely on the members will premiere on the band's official YouTube channel, starting Friday, November 14, at 8:00 pm. New parts are scheduled to air twice monthly, on the second and third Fridays.

The group first gained notice when a new social media profile, @gpp_fly, linked to SM Japan, surfaced. It exhibited the faces of the eight members.
