Who is Cam Miller? Meet the Raiders rookie quarterback endorsed by Tom Brady

2 hours ago 2

The Las Vegas Raiders drafted two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL draft, one of which was North Dakota State product Cam Miller.

Miller was drafted in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL draft shortly after the Raiders took Tommy Mellott out of Montana State. Mellott is converting to wide receiver, though, so Miller was the only real quarterback Las Vegas drafted.

According to the Raiders' first unofficial depth chart of 2025, Miller is listed as the No. 3 quarterback behind starter Geno Smith and top backup Aidan O'Connell, as expected.

Miller should make his preseason debut on Thursday night when the Raiders meet the Seahawks at Lumen Field. Here's a bit more information on the young Raiders quarterback.

Tom Brady endorsed Cam Miller

According to Dan Pompei of The Athletic, Raiders minority owner Tom Brady was "on board" with the selection of Miller.

"During the draft, Brady stayed away but was in constant communication and was on board with the selection of quarterback Cam Miller in the sixth round," Pompei reported.

Earlier this week, Miller said that, if true, Brady's endorsement was "very humbling."

"If it is true, that's very humbling and honoring to know the best quarterback to ever play the game endorsed me," Miller said, per Nick Walters of KTNV.

An endorsement from the GOAT? Not bad.

Cam Miller's scouting report

From Lance Zierlein of NFL.com:

Strengths:

  • Quickly gets through his throwing operation and into release.
  • Better than 4:1 career touchdown-to-interception ratio.
  • Able to make touch throws to all three levels.
  • Extends plays and buys time to make throws off-schedule.
  • Uses legs as a weapon on designed runs and as a scrambler.

Weaknesses:

  • Below-average efficiency getting through progressions.
  • Has trouble cutting it loose when receivers come free.
  • Doesn’t throw with enough anticipation against zone coverage.
  • Lacks the arm talent and velocity to be late with throws and still connect.
  • Ball placement goes astray when he feels pressured.
